28-Minute Plan to Improve English on Your Own!

Do you want to quickly boost your English? If it is yes, keep reading. The majority of us live incredibly hectic lives. Jobs, school drop-offs, shopping, the gym, bills, meals, cleaning, laundry… The list goes on and on. With everything else going on in your life, you need to be extremely effective in how you use your time to enhance your English. We created a 28-minute power study program to help you get the most out of the short time you have to enhance your language knowledge. Consider this a fitness routine: completing it on a daily basis will help you stay immersed in English for a long time. You should go over the following four “exercise” routines:

Spend 3 minutes adding one new term to your vocabulary

Every day, learn one new word. It can’t possibly be that difficult. We’re not talking about 50, 25, or even 10 words here. We’re only talking about one word here.

How do you come up with new words? There are hundreds of free websites that provide ESL students with vocabulary lists and quizzes at various levels. Merriam Webster’s Word of the Day is a fantastic free tool. You may easily sign up to receive a new vocabulary word emailed to you every day for free. You can also join our Discord server, where you can find all information needed and vocabulary lists for students at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels.

It’s pointless to spend additional time relearning and memorizing grammar theory once you’ve mastered fundamental grammar. It is a better use of time to acquaint yourself with English sentence forms.

Spending 10 minutes a day reading online from English websites is the greatest method to do this. From Lifehacker to Upworthy, Wired to the Huffington Post, there are hundreds of wonderful sites to read. Simply choose an article to read and enjoy. Don’t stress about understanding every word; just try to grasp the broad idea of the article. Feel free to check up on any new terms or idioms you come across, but don’t try to memorize everything. Remember that the goal of this practice is to familiarize yourself with sentence constructions.

Spend 10 minutes listening to a native English speaker

Pronunciation and listening go hand in hand. If you have problems pronouncing particular words, you’re undoubtedly having trouble understanding them when they’re spoken by a native speaker.

The good news is that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to enhance your listening and pronunciation in English. There are a variety of information sources to choose from. YouTube is an excellent place to start. Take a look at Steve Jobs’ Stanford commencement speech or a clip from Dave Letterman’s late-night program. If you’re searching for something fun, consider Amy Schumer or Craig Ferguson’s standup comedy. Check out TED videos for something more educational and inspiring.

Do this for ten minutes. Write down a new word or two if you wish, but don’t stop every minute to overthink it. Attempt to reduce interruptions to the minimum, just like you did with the reading exercise, and concentrate on obtaining the broad gist of the message. Don’t sweat if you can’t understand everything that was said.

5 minutes of speaking aloud

It takes 90% muscle memory when it comes to speaking English. Superfluent English speakers do not translate and think in their own language. Instead, they think and talk in English, skipping the mental translation stage. As a result, they are more fluent in English. This is a must-do if you want to improve your English speaking skills and reach a higher degree of fluency.

Standing in front of the mirror and trying to explain something is a wonderful 5-minute workout you may do at home. Call it a short presentation or speech. It might be about anything, from a supper recipe you’re cooking to how your day went. Simply say it aloud. Pay attention to the speed with which you talk and the clarity with which you communicate. Without looking at any sentences, try to talk as naturally as possible.

Again, don’t beat yourself up too much if you make mistakes (which you will). The idea is to improve your muscle memory so that you can speak English fluently without having to mentally translate from your native tongue.


The purpose of this program is to improve your English fluency. It is intended to help you strengthen your conversational English. It is not intended to help you improve your TOEFL or IELTS scores. You will notice an advancement in your English if you do these four “workouts” every day for four weeks.

Of course, none of this can substitute for the value gained from practicing with a native speaker via Discord or other video/audio conferencing methods. Real-time conversation practice has always been and will continue to be, the fastest approach to improving English.
